Self-Portrait Morphosis Project
We live in a superficial “selfie” culture, but self-portrait photography is much more than an up close shot of one’s face; they reveal a wealth of information about the photographer. A self portrait is a study of oneself both physically and emotionally, which can expresses the depth of one's personality. Spirit animals are an extension of the “self”, a reflection of one's identity. Instead of students turning the camera on themselves and clicking away, this project’s challenge was to create photographs that captured who they are by blending parts of their actual body and parts of their spirit animal to become one self. In order to achieve this effect, students will employed tools in Photoshop Elements such as: blending; eraser; lasso; free transform; color replacement; masking brush; distort; and the skew tool.
